Pamela Obenland Obituary

Pamela “Pam” Obenland, passed from this world at the age of 64 on Saturday, September 25, 2021, at her home in Danville, Illinois after a short but hard-fought battle with lung cancer. Born Pamela Sue Cottrell on July 9, 1957, in Niles, Michigan to Edward Leon Cottrell and Beverly Ann Cottrell.

Pam was a 1975 Buchanan High School (Michigan) graduate and later earned a degree in Business from The American Intercontinental University. She married Michael Obenland on November 1, 2003. She was an ordained minister and performed many wedding ceremonies for friends and family. Pam also spoke at several Vermilion County high schools for the M.A.D.D. organization following the death of her daughter in 1999. She had several jobs during her life and retired from Automation International in Danville in 2020. She was previously the co-owner of All Kinds of Ice in Danville and Awakenings Book Store in Belgium, IL. In her free time, Pam enjoyed crocheting, gardening, morel mushroom hunting, RPG video games, watching Notre Dame Football, and spending time with family and her pets.

Pam was preceded in death by her father Edward, her sister Peggy Jo Cottrell, nephew, Nathan Cottrell, and her beloved daughter Michelle Erin Lamb. Survivors include her mother Beverly, husband Mike, brother Edward A. (Edna) Cottrell, sister Patti Ann Cottrell, son Matthew (Keri) Lamb, stepson, Bradley (Mercedes) Obenland and their daughter Riley Obenland, cherished granddaughter Natalie Erin Lamb, best friend Rene Engelmann, and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.

A memorial celebration of her life will be held at the Hideaway at Kennekuk Cove County Park in Danville on Friday, October 8, 2021, at 12:30 p.m. Friends and family are welcome.
