Patricia Clay Obituary

Patricia Ann Clay, 89, of Danville, IL went to be with the lord on Saturday, February 13, 2021 at Bowman Estates Assisted Living. She was a member of the Holiday Hills Free Methodist Church now – the Family Community of Holiday Hills. She loved her church and singing in the choir. She believed in the power of prayers. Pat enjoyed all of the holidays and decorating her home, especially Christmas! She loved making shamrocks for everyone to wear on St. Patty’s Day. She always said, “I have just enough Irish in me!” She was a homemaker and a bit of a rebel. Pat, known for her courageous spirit, decided to learn how to fly an airplane. She, along with her husband, Julian, flew their airplane to many interesting places. They flew from the Bahamas to Canada and throughout the United States. They enjoyed going to The Grand Ole Opryland in Nashville, Tennessee. Pat enjoyed selling Fuller Brush products. She loved working at the Colonial Parkway Restaurant. Pat also, worked for the Commercial News until she was 79 years young! She loved talking with people on her routes and never new a stranger. She loved to have fun and dance. She enjoyed gardening, caring for her beautiful roses, and her prize winning ruby red tomatoes. Pat loved country music and the good old-fashioned hymns.

Patricia was born on January 7, 1932 in Fort Wayne, IN. Pat married Julian D. Clay on March 14th in Fort Wayne, IN. Together, they had 6 children. Vickie (Paul)  Johnson of Potomac, IL, Johney (Doreen) Clay of Georgetown, IL, Danny Clay Sr. of Danville, IL, Cheryll (Kenny) Phillips of Bismarck, IL, Jeffery Clay of Danville, IL, and Thomas Clay of Perrysville, IN.

10 grandchildren; Ambre (Aaron) Todd of Dunnellon, FL, Danny Clay Jr., Kristi Hendrickx, Jesse Lee (Jamie) Clay of West Virginia, Adam Harper of Urbana, IL, Tiffany Clay-Jeffers (Jason) of Pueblo West, CO, Devyn Clay of Champaign, IL, Shelby (Tyler) Foley Bismarck, IL, Madeleine Clay and John Thomas Clay both of Perrysville, IN. 9 great grandchildren; Austin (Savannah), Alex (Lindee), Jenna, Colin, Sydney, Willow, Rhiannon, Ella, and Jackson. 3 great-great grandchildren; Aspen, Addison, and Easton.

Pat’s sisters are; Mary (William) Beltz from Fort Wayne, IN, Judy (Rollie) Massey from Anderson, IN, Lita Riley from Fort Wayne, IN, Rose Mary Moore from Fort Wayne, IN. A brother John Arruza from Fort Wayne, IN.

She was preceded in death by her husband Julian, her brother Richard D. Barrett Jr., brother-in-law William Beltz, sister Nancy and husband Ted Smith, sister Sharon Barrett, son Jeffrey Clay, daughter-in-law Donna Clay, grandson Danny Clay Jr., and granddaughter Kristi Hendrickx, Parents; Anna Mullane and Richard D. Barrett Sr., Mary Catherine Freiburger and Joseph Arruza

Patsy was loved by all of her nieces and nephews. Pat had 5 special lifelong friends; Alma Gibson and her daughter Carmelita, Star Musson, Helen and Richard Huber. Patsy especially loved her little dog Susie.

Visitation will be held from 1:00pm to 2:00pm Saturday February 20th 2021 at Family Church at Holiday Hills 1700 N. Bowman Ave. Danville, IL 61832. The celebration of life service will begin at 2:00pm for Mrs. Clay with Pastor Rob Susman officiating. The burial will be at Sterns Cemetery Fithian, IL.
