Paula Marr Obituary

Paula Denise Marr, formerly of the East Alton-Wood River area, and more recently of the Morris, Illinois area, passed away peacefully at her sister’s home in Oakwood, Illinois on Saturday, July 17, 2021, after a short but valiant battle with lung cancer. She was 62.

Paula was born on March 12, 1959 at Wood River Community Hospital. She was the youngest child of Lesley R. Marr and Anna Elmina (Jones) Marr. She is survived by a son, Justin Denny of Morris; her Significant Other of 27 years, Tim Ferguson of Morris; a sister, Roberta Marr Cundiff (Jesse) of Oakwood; a brother, David Wesley Marr (Donna) of Las Vegas, Nevada; and multiple nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, and two sisters.

Paula attended Wood River Community High School, Lewis and Clark Community College, and Joliet Junior College. She was employed for several years as an administrative assistant at the Morris County Chamber of Commerce. She was also employed in the food service industry for many years; her last job being at Rosati’s Pizza in Morris, where she worked with three other male employees and the owner/manager, Ketan Patel.  She laughed that she always considered herself “just one of the guys,” at Rosati’s.

Paula was a voracious reader, and she enjoyed authors such as Stephen King, J.D Robb (Nora Roberts), and any crime/mystery novel that caught her eye in the Morris Public Library.  She was also an avid fan of race car driving, and watching her significant other, Tim Ferguson, compete in races.  She was close to her grown son, Justin, and during her illness she enjoyed quality time with him on Saturdays.

Paula was an outgoing person with a good sense of humor and a sweet personality. Her faith in God was evident in her caring for others and her loving spirit. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

Her family would like to thank her wonderful hospice nurse, Karen Davidson, RN, BSN, and the compassionate doctors, nurses, and staff at OSF Sacred Heart Hospital in Danville for helping her to make a peaceful transition from this world to the next.

There will be a Memorial Service and a family dinner at a later date. Condolences may be sent to www.rortvedtfuneralservices.com.
