Phil Grooms, 62, of Danville, Illinois, passed away at home on Thursday, January 2, 2025. Phil was born in Crawfordsville, Indiana on December 13, 1962, the son of Roy and Madeline Grooms. He was raised by David and Sharon Crane in Crawfordsville.
He married Carolyn Crawley in Greencastle, Indiana, on December 13, 1982. She died on September 13, 2011. He married Karen Cook on March 15, 2015, in Danville, Illinois. She survives.
He is survived by his bonus children Tabatha Huss, Katey Huss, and Blaine Huss, and his grandson Ayven Huss. Also surviving are his sisters Carol Grimes and Teresa Douglas, his brother Ray, his bonus siblings Thomas (Tracie) Crane, Cathy (Ivan) O'Neal, and Rhonda Crane, his sisters-in-law Kathy (David) Triplett and Nancy Cook, his brother-in-law Robert Cook, and his father-in-law Kenneth Cook.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Madeline Grooms, his bonus parents David and Sharon Crane, and his sister Elaine Grooms.
Phil worked for Allied Universal as a security guard at Genpact and McLane, and recently at Visco Fan in Danville, Illinois.
Phil enjoyed listening to 80s rock music, spending time with his family, traveling with his wife Karen, and special time with his beloved grandson Ayven.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
