Raymond Dean Abbott of Danville, Illinois, passed away at 12:06 p.m. on Friday July 4, 2025, at OSF Sacred Heart Medical Center in Danville at the age of 75. Raymond was born July 5, 1949, in Danville, IL to Herman J. Abbott and Garnett (Mill) Abbott.
Raymond was preceded in death by his parents, and nephew, Kevin Cappello. He leaves behind his daughter, Renee (Beau) Vinson, two granddaughters Makenzie (Nicholas) Severs and Kerrigan (Tristan) Wolfe. Two great grandchildren, Eastyn and Ada. One sister, Linda Stump, one niece, Tammy (Jim) Moody, two great nephews, Blake Cappello and Logan Moody.
Raymond was a friend to many and had a nickname for each one of them. He enjoyed dirt car racing, sweet tea and RC Cola.
Raymond will be greatly missed by all who knew him, especially his daughter.
The family is tremendously grateful to the staff at Carle Hospital Oncology Unit in Urbana and for the excellent care they provided. The family is also grateful to the staff at VA Illiana HCS during the short time he was there.
