Richard "Bud" Boyer

Richard “Bud” Boyer, age 62, of Danville, Illinois passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 23, 2026, surrounded by family who remained devotedly by his side throughout his courageous battle with cancer.

Bud was born on May 18, 1964, in Danville, Illinois to Richard and Josephine (Grovier) Boyer. He spent many dedicated years working at ChemCast and later went back to school to obtain his CDL, spending several years driving a semi. Bud eventually hung up his keys and finished his final years working at Danville Rubber - a job he genuinely loved and enjoyed. Bud married the love of his life, Kara, on August 11, 2002, and together they raised four children in a wonderfully blended family. If you knew Bud, you knew his grandkids were his world. He cherished every moment spent with them, spoiling them completely. When he wasn’t with family, Bud was happiest out on the open road either on his Harley or in his truck always accompanied by his beloved Husky, BabyGirl.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Kara; cherished stepdaughter, Kristin Bernard; his big sister, Cindy Henchen; and his parents. 

Bud is survived by his children, Nathan (Kayla) Boyer, Matt (Rachel Wisdom) Boyer, and Jennifer (Marc) Carpenter; his adored grandchildren, Jaxsen Carpenter, Lilly Carpenter, Anna Boyer, Julius Boyer, Callie Boyer and Kylee Boyer; his precious bonus grandkids whom he loved as his own, Emma-Leigh and Gabby Binkley; his beloved sisters, Juliann Binkley and Linda Kiger; his little brother, Freddie Boyer; and his dear friends and extended family, as well as many nieces and nephews who loved him dearly.

Visitation will be held on Friday, May 29, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. with a celebration of life at 12:00 p.m. at the Second Church of Christ, 3350 E. Voorhees St. Danville, IL. Pastor Tracy Thomas officiating. Bud will be laid to rest immediately following the funeral service next to his beloved wife at Gordon Cemetery.
