Richard Setser, 72, of Tilton, IL, died peacefully at home with his beloved wife of 53 years, Betty, by his side on Friday, January 3, 2025. He was born in Danville, IL to parents Robert and Helen Setser and lived in Tilton, IL for the majority of his life. Richard was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Robert “Dale” Setser, and sister, Shirley Sisney. He is survived by wife, Betty Mae (Shepherd), three sons: Richard Jr. and wife Melissa, John, and Tony and wife Carolyn, and four grandchildren: Tryce, Chance, Trinlee, and Ava. He is also survived by his brother, Earl “Henry” Setser and his wife, Lucy.
Richard retired in 2021 from Flex-N-Gate in Covington, IN as the Logistics Manager.
He was a long-time member of Church of God, the Eternal, where he was a member of the music program/choir.
Richard was a lover of music and an avid guitar player. He played guitar and bass and sang in various local bands throughout his life. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
He also loved learning home remodeling and carpentry. He was able to put these self-learned skills to use by rebuilding his home in Tilton, IL, which was completed in 2014.
Per his wishes, there will be no memorial service or funeral. Richard will be dearly missed by his family and friends and those who knew him.
