Ricky Lee Adkisson, 65, of Georgetown, IL., went to ride in Heaven on Thursday, August 8, 2024. He was at home, resting peacefully, when the Lord called him home. He was born to Rolland and Carla (Castle) Adkisson October 15, 1958 in Creston, Iowa. He moved to Danville, IL., in 1994 where he lived for many years before moving to Georgetown in 2007.
Rick leaves behind, his parents, Rolland and Melba Adkisson, Kirkwood, IL, his brother and best friend, Steven Adkisson, Monmouth, IL., his sister, Tina (Dusty) Best, Bay Minette, AL., his beloved children, Tonya (Adam Morano) Knight, Ar., Jacob Freedom Adkisson, Amber and Shane Steele, Emily McCool, Georgetown, IL, Kim Grissom, Urbana, IL., Doug (Grace) Thompson, Mi.
Rick also leaves behind his wife, Claudia, In-laws, Leroy "60" Thompson, Dingo and Wheatie (Woods) Thompson, Florence and Lee Jones, Aloysius and Dixie Thompson, and Tommy Thompson, as well as many other relatives and loved ones, including three of his favorite nieces, Melanie (Justin) O'Rourke, Tiffany MacFarland, AL., and Missy Lankster, Westville, IL.
He was preceded in death by his mother, brother, Todd, a great granddaughter, and his mother-in-law, Hester Thompson.
Rick spent many years driving a truck in order to pay Uncle Sam. He enjoyed camping, fishing (especially with his son, brother, or nephew Joe), and double decker, "bloney" and lettuce sandwiches, (that he always shared with a grandkid, or two). He could be quite humorous at times and was often known to put on his 'Cletus' persona to make you laugh, (and wouldn't stop until you did). Riding his Harley was his passion and cold weather never stopped him from going for a ride. He was always ready to grab a cup of coffee or a cold beer as he had never met a stranger.
A Celebration of Life will be held from 3-6 pm on August 31, 2024 at The American Legion in Georgetown.
