Ricky Joe Lomax, Sr, 61, of Danville, went on to be with our Lord & Savior, Jesus Christ at 9:45pm, on Tuesday, February 22, 2022 at OSF Sacred Heart Medical Center. He is the son of Alford Johnson and Beverly Ann (Brannin) Lomax.
Rick worked at Recycler’s of Champaign as a truck driver. At one time, he served as Chaplain for the Lynch Fire Department. Rick was the pastor at Greater Vision Church in Danville along with his first wife, Julie. Rick was part of the worship team as well as ministered the gospel at Abundant Life of Danville the last year of his life. He loved Jesus and desired to lead people to Christ. He enjoyed playing the piano and singing worship songs. He was a family man that enjoyed gardening and creating wooden signs with a dremel.
He is survived by: his wife, Heather (High) Lomax of Danville, his daughter, Jessica D Womack of Champaign, his son, Ricky J Lomax, Jr. and daughter-in-law, Tabitha (Townsend) Lomax; his father, Alford (Gloria Joanne) Johnson of Danville, a brother, Loren Lomax of Indiana, a sister, June (Craige) Paige of Hoopeston, and a sister, Cindy (Richard) Jones of Tilton. He is survived by many other step and half siblings, as well as eleven grandchildren and one great granddaughter.
He is preceded in death by: his first wife of 37 years of marriage, Julie D (Freed) Lomax, his mother, Beverly A Lomax, his brothers: Danny, Flloyd, Jeff and Mike Lomax and a niece, Beverly Ann Lomax.
A celebration of Rick’s life will be held at 3:00pm on Saturday, March 26, 2022 at Assembly of Danville at 428 N Walnut, Danville, Illinois 61832 with Pastor James Ford of Abundant Life and Pastor Doug Knapp of Assembly of Danville officiating. He will be laid to rest at Bethel Cemetery.
