Robert Earl Foster, 74, of Danville, formerly of Springfield, passed away at 11:42 a.m. Friday, January 31, 2025 at OSF Sacred Heart Medical Center in Danville. He was born March 24, 1950 in Springfield, Illinois to Paul and Margaret Mary (Schepmann) Foster. Robert served in the U.S. Army retiring after 20 years receiving numerous medals and ribbons. He was the Director of the Illinois Department of Veterans Affairs. He was a member of VFW Post 755, Vietnam Veterans of America Post 534, American Legion Post 102, Catholic War Veterans, American Ex-POW and Korean War Veterans Association all in Springfield. He was a Commander of VFW 755 for 3 years and Quartermaster for 8 years. He was State Commander for American Ex-POW for 8 years.
Robert is survived by his children, Paula Ann Clark and Robert Earl Foster, Jr., both of Springfield, IL and a brother, William Price of Springfield and a special friend, Larry Green of Springfield. He was preceded in death by 2 brothers, John Foster and Dennis Price and a sister, Marilyn Nicks.
