Robert Reid Kerby

It is with great sorrow that we tell you Robert Reid "Bob" Kerby died March 22, 2025, at Accolade Healthcare of Danville. Bob was born January 23, 1955, in Danville, IL, and graduated from Danville High School in 1973.  Following graduation, he enjoyed his 35 years at Rehab Products and Services in Danville, IL.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter Reid "Pete" and Barbara Ellen (Rothwell) Kerby. His immediate family includes Robin (Raymond) Gordon, Steven (Thelma) Kerby, and Dawn Abara.  He has many nieces and nephews who he frequently asked how they were doing.  He enjoyed hearing of their accomplishments and what was currently happening in their lives.

If you knew Bob well, you knew he had a great faith in Jesus Christ.  Because of this, we are reminded of II Corinthians 5:8 --  "....to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord".  He grew up, was baptized into Christ at the Hooton Church of Christ and was a very faithful attender. He later attended Central Park Church of Christ in Tilton, IL, and finished his life attending Homer United Congregational Church in Homer, IL.  Through his years of faithfulness, and while he was physically capable, he thoroughly enjoyed his part in collecting the offering.  As Dawn (his sister) says, "when Bob gets to heaven, he will be “normal” with no disabilities, no vision problems, no health problems -- for the first time in his entire life, he will be like he always wanted to be."

Bob enjoyed bowling every Tuesday with his friends.  He was a die-hard St. Louis Cardinals fan, then jumped ship and became a Chicago Cubs fan during his adult life. He was an avid Chicago Bears and University of Illinois Illini fan.  He kept busy with iPhone/iPad puzzles/games.

Bob can be remembered by his sayings such as "Just sayin'", "Just thought I'd tell ya", "Don't hurt to ask", etc. 

A celebration of his life open house will be from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Saturday, April 12, 2025 at his sister's house (Robin Gordon) 7 Lake Shore Court Danville, IL 61832.
