Robert Joseph Mooney, 83, of Danville, formerly of Terre Haute, Indiana, passed away at 12:08 a.m. Monday, December 22, 2025, at Courage House at VA Illiana Healthcare in Danville. He was born March 5, 1942, in Detroit Michigan to Joseph Patrick and Lois Ethel (Clark) Mooney. He graduated from Honey Creek High School in Terre Haute, Indiana. Bob joined the U.S. Army serving from 1961 to 1963. He worked as a senior agent for American General Insurance Company until his retirement.
Bob was a member of American Legion Post 210 in Danville and Further Light Masonic Lodge in Danville. He was also a member of Scottish Rite and a Shriner.
Bob is survived by a sister, Alyce Mullen of Terre Haute, Indiana. He is preceded in death by a sister, Susie Mooney.
Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Monday, December 29, 2025, at the VA Protestant Chapel, 1900 E. Main St. Danville, IL 61832. Masonic Rites will be at 11:00 a.m. Monday at the chapel followed by Military Honors by American Legion Post 210. Private burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Park in Terre Haute, Indiana.
