Ronald Dean "Dino or Spanky" Baldwin

Ronald Dean "Dino or Spanky" Baldwin, aged 63, of Danville, Illinois, passed away peacefully at home with family by his side early morning on February 23, 2024. He was born on August 7, 1960, in Danville, Illinois. 

Ronald, known to some as Dino or Spanky, had a vibrant personality and a love for gardening, spending time with his grandchildren, his companion Terry, and his beloved dog Titus. He enjoyed shopping at flea markets, fairs, and rummage sales. Ronald was a proud grandpa who cherished the time spent with his grandchildren, Katelynn, Blayton, Courtney, Shyann, and Noah. 

In his earlier years, Ronald enjoyed traveling and worked at I-Tel before joining McLanes for many years until his career ended in 2002 due to a work-related injury. He also worked at Main Package, Securitas, and volunteered with Jaycees. He also briefly worked for Bob Watson part time to clean machines.

Ronald graduated from Westville High School in 1978 and attended Danville Area Community College. He worshiped at Hooten Church in the Grapecreek area during his childhood.

His hobbies included playing Euchre, bowling at Lincoln Lanes, gardening, spending time with his grandchildren, watching wrestling, Family Guy, and Looney Toons, as well as fishing and mushroom hunting.

He leaves behind his daughter, Amy (Bradley) Simmers of Danville IL, former companion, Terry Hazel of Knightstown IN, brother, Russell (Maggie) Baldwin of Tilton IL, nieces, Gracie (Robert) Moore, Brandy Baldwin, Melissa Baldwin, nephews, Richard(Tammy) Baldwin Jr., Simeon Baldwin, grandchildren Katelynn, Blayton, Courtney, Shyann & Noah, great nieces & great nephews, and many cousins. Ronald was preceded in death by his grandparents, parents, Ralph L. Baldwin and Lillian Rose Baldwin, brothers, Ralph Jr. (Junie) and Richard, a nephew, Robert, and several other relatives.

A memorial service for Ronald will be held at Kennekuk Cove County Park at the Hideaway building on March 1, 2024. Visitation will begin at 12 pm, with the memorial service at 1 pm, followed by a potluck dinner. Donations to assist with expenses can be made through Amy Simmers or Kimberly Thomas.

Cremation is being handled by Rortvedt Funeral Services and Crematory.
