Ronald Elliott, 67, a lifetime resident of Danville, Illinois, died unexpectedly on December 25, 2024, at his residence. Ron or Ronnie, as he was known by many, was a proud US Navy veteran.
Ron is missed by his loving mother, Winnie Pounds; his caring sister, Cathy Howie; and brother-in-law Cary. He is also survived by three nephews and a niece in addition to several great nieces and nephews. Ron was preceded in death by his father, Loren Elliott, and his grandparents.
Ron is remembered by his closest family as a man who was compassionate, caring, and generous. At his best he took great joy in sharing what he had with those in need and helping all he could.
Some of Ron’s greatest interests included: the outdoors (fishing, hiking, and mushroom hunting); watching westerns; and playing cards.
Over the years, Ron worked in many different occupations. He worked in food-packing, dish rooms, kitchens, and as a handyman.
The family invites you to remember Ron’s life with them on Friday, January 3, 2025, at Southside Church of Christ 611 Forrest St. Danville, IL 61832. Visitation will be held from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Friday with a service immediately following with Craig Howie officiating. Ron will be laid to rest at Danville National Cemetery at 1:00 p.m. Friday with Military Honors by American Legion Post 210.
