Ronald Eugene Meyer

Ronald. E. “Cowboy” Meyer, 79, of Urbana, went to join his beloved wife of 61 years, Joyce Ann (White) Meyer. She passed away in September, 2018.

Ron was born June 15, 1939 to Lynne & Dorothy (Connelly) Meyer of Champaign. He was one of eight children. Ron has two children, five grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.

Sisters; Wanda (Edward) Champion (both deceased), Sue (Paul) Stoddard, Mindy (Christian) Haile and Lynnette Burton (deceased), brothers; Jerry (Joanie) Meyer, Rick (Donna) Meyer and Steve (Linda) Meyer children; Dianna Rickard (Bill Greer), Darren (Jann) Meyer grandchildren; Toby Sirois, Kimberly (Jovanni) Payan, Calvin ( Brittany) Rickard, Jessi (Brian) Hosman, Brent (Amara) Meyer great-grandchildren; Bradley, Benjamin Sirois, Maria, Aleczander, Kaelyn Payan, Chloe Hosman, Arianna, James Meyer, Eliot, Delilah Rickard.

Ron had been a member of the Ambucs since 1983. He was one of the originators of the first handicap-accessible park of Urbana, also the Scarecrow Festival in September.

Ron was best known for the Toy Sale every year for the past eleven years. He would open the doors on black Friday and every weekend until Christmas Eve.

A memorial gathering will be held June 8, 2019 at 1:00 p. m. at 2812 East Oaks Road N. Urbana 61802.
