Roy Dean Burke

Roy Dean Burke, 70, of Tilton went to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, May 17, 2025.

Roy was born on December 19, 1954, to Richard and Emily (Chounard) Burke of Oakwood, Illinois.  Roy attended Oakwood High school graduating in 1973. He worked for 35 years as an operator Engineer and out of Local 841 in Oakwood. He also drove over the road for Prime Trucking.

Roy leaves behind the love of his life, Barb (Golden) Burke, married for 41 years. Also surviving are two daughters, Heather (Wesley) White of Divernon, Illinois and Sarah (Tracy) Warner of Grand Junction, Colorado; grandchildren, Zachary and Emmalee White and Cheyenne and Shelby Warner; two stepdaughters, Shay and Kristy and their families; two sisters, Mary (Bob) Vandenberg of Florida, Sally (Mike) Shoppa of Florida; four brothers, Virgil (Kim) Burke of Leroy, Aaron (Melinda) Burke of Fithian, Jim (Sandi) Burke of Indianola and Rick Burke of Fairmount; many nieces and nephews; and special friends, Jerry McDonnell, Don Huckaby, Scott and Mickie McClure, Cami Wakeland and Greg and Suzy Woodard.

Roy and Barb enjoyed traveling and lived in different states like Arizona, Missouri and Nevada before coming back to Illinois. He enjoyed hunting, hunting mushrooms, flying his drone, and collecting small heavy equipment toys.

Roy was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Emily Burke from Oakwood; father-in-law, John L Golden; and mother-in-law Dorothy Pickett. Roy will always be remembered by his charm, wit, and warm smile.

Per Roy’s wishes he will be cremated at Rortvedt Funeral Services & Crematory with no service or memorial. Donations may be made to the Carle Cancer Center
