Schuyler August Michenfelder (1951-2023)
Schuyler A. Michenfelder, known to everyone as Sky, 72, of Danville passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, December 12th.
He was born September 13, 1951, in Danville, IL, the son of Frank and Helen Michenfelder. He married Debora Ludwig on October 8, 2004, in Danville. She survives.
Survivors also include his stepsons Jeremy Frerichs and his wife Deanna and their two children, Joshua Frerichs and fiancé Jennifer Olson their six children, and John Frerichs and his wife Mara and their three children.
Also surviving, brother-in-law, Brad and Sally Ludwig, Sister-in-law, Connie and Ron Leverich, and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, stepfather Doc Hower, brothers Jay Meitzler and Kelley Meitzler, stepdaughter Andrea Bounds, and sister-in-law Laura Bice.
Sky graduated from Danville High School in 1969. He then attended Danville Area Community College. He served in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War. And he worked for over 30 years at AQUA Illinois.
He was a horse farrier, which sparked a love for horses. He owned horses throughout his life and was his primary passion for many years. He also had an interest in Corvettes and enjoyed owning a few in his life. Above all, Sky very much loved his wife and family, and kept them and Jesus at the center of his heart.
Visitation will be from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Friday, with funeral services at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 16, 2023 at Sunset Funeral Home in Danville.
