Shane David Hughes 32, of Oakwood, IL. passed away Thursday June 27, 2024.
Shane was born January 27, 1992, to Floyd (Cheryl) Hughes, of Oakwood, IL. and Janet (Bill) Bradford, of Kansas, IL. He is survived by his parents; two
children, Aubree Shannon and Curtis (Ledger) Shannon, both of Kansas, IL; two brothers, Jake Hughes of Westfield, IL and Dusty (Candice) Hughes of Kansas, IL; two stepbrothers Rob Weller of Westville, IL and Cody Weller of Tilton, IL, maternal grandparents Susan Bradford and Larry Hamm of Oakland, IL; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Shane was preceded in death by maternal grandparents, Gene and Juanita Kanitz of Oakland, IL., grandfather, Lee Bradford of Kansas, IL, maternal uncle, Randy Kanitz and maternal aunt, Rosemary (Kanitz) Duzan, paternal grandmother, Evelyn Starks of Danville, IL, paternal aunt, Johnna Elliott, paternal uncles, Allen Reed, David Hughes and Johnny Elliott and one cousin, Jason Reed.
Shane enjoyed fishing, rock hunting, swimming, mushroom hunting, and all things found in the woods and rivers. He was always an untamed country boy at heart. As a young child, Shane could be seen walking the river with a fishing pole in hand and his trusted dog, Rocky, by his side. He found enjoyment in nature and spending time with family and friends. When Shane's eyes sparkled and his face lit up, you knew he was on the verge of doing something he probably shouldn't but would bring great laughter and joy to those around him. He did not seek the calm waters, instead, he lived his life full-throttle and enjoyed even the smallest moments. Shane's sense of adventure, his ability to love fiercely and wholly, and his profound loyalty are characteristics that will live on in his memory.
A private celebration of life will be held on a later date.
