Sharmaine Bowman
August 18, 1952 - February 14, 2026
Sharmaine Bowman passed this world peacefully, surrounded by family, on February 14, 2026, at Carle Foundation Hospital.
Sharmaine was born August 18, 1952, in Loraine, Texas, to Verna May (Patton) McGehee, the oldest of three children. She spent her youth and early adult life between Texas and Illinois.
Sharmaine earned her RN, BSN from Lakeview College of Nursing in 1996 and later became a Certified Wound Specialist. She enjoyed a 27-year career traveling all over before retiring in 2023. She was known for her blond hair, beautiful nails, and sense of style. Her love of sunglasses was only surpassed by her love of jewelry and purses. If she had a mantra, it would be, “I am either drinking Dr. Pepper, about to drink Dr. Pepper, or thinking about drinking Dr. Pepper.” It was her eternal youth serum.
Sharmaine is survived by her three children: Tracy (Chad) Turner of Mahomet, Brandon (Kristen McCune) Bowman of Monticello, and Cory Bowman of Danville; her mother Verna McGehee of Danville; and her grandchildren: Brayden (Caroline Harrison) Turner of San Francisco, CA; Laney (Madison Yocius) Turner of Pittsburgh, PA; and Aubrie, Aspyn, Ava, and Adley Bowman of Monticello, her beloved little sister Nancy Broom of Eastland, TX, special niece Bessie (Gilbert) Garcia of Eastland, TX, along with several other nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins that she loved dearly. Sharmaine spent 16 wonderful years with her love and traveling partner, Bob Parr, of Oakwood, IL, who also survives. Through Bob, she gained a bonus family: Terri (Jim Cummings) of St. Joe, IL; Tony Parr of Knoxville, TN; Claire (Steve) Martin and their children of Danville, IL; Nathan Cummings and children of Danville; and special bonus cousins Dan and Maryann Warden of Janesville, WI.
Sharmaine was preceded in death by her dear brother Kenneth Clark (CA) and step-father, William (Bill) McGehee.
Per Sharmaine’s wishes, no services will be held at this time. A private celebration of life will be held at a later date. Rortvedt Funeral Services and Crematory of Tilton, IL, has been entrusted with cremation arrangements. Online condolences: www.rortvedtfuneralservices.com.
