Shirlee Anne (Devore) Fraley

Shirlee Anne (Devore) Fraley, age 86, has peacefully passed away at 1:33 p.m., Friday, October 14, 2022, at Heritage Health in Hoopeston, after a battle with cancer. Born to William and Edythe (Van Dyke) DeVore on February 16, 1936. She graduated from Schlarman High School and attended Saint Mary’s College.

She married David L. Fraley on December 26, 1959, and they were married until his death in 2017.  Shirlee is survived by their sons; David, James and William Fraley, all of Danville, two granddaughters Erica Fraley and Shelby Fraley as well as a great granddaughter Audra Funk. She is preceded in death by her brother William Devore.

Shirlee was an avid reader, always reading the daily newspaper, also enjoying books on nature and gardening, and of course romance novels. She also enjoyed crossword puzzles and sudoku.

She was a lifelong animal lover and rescued a plethora of animals over the years, including helping rehabilitate wildlife.

Shirlee enjoyed spending time with her family and friends and loved being able to go for coffee and socialize at her favorite restaurants.

Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, October 25, 2022, at Holy Family Catholic Church, 444 E. Main Street, Danville, Illinois.  Visitation will be one hour prior to service. Father Loftus to officiate. Shirlee was interred at the Danville National Cemetery with her late husband.
