Shirley Theresa (Johnson) Grove, age 62, of Tolono, IL, formerly of Champaign, passed away on September 6, 2023, at home surrounded by her family.

Born March 13, 1961, in Urbana, IL, the daughter of Billy Edward and Mary Jane (Kirk) Johnson.

She married Richard L. Grove December 27, 1981. He preceded her death in September of 2018. She was also preceded in death by her father, Billy Edward Johnson, her brother, Johnny Edward Johnson, and nephew, Tommy Smith.

She is survived by her children, Richard L. Grove, III and Sarah Jane (James) Grove, her mother, Mary J. Lantz, granddaughter Addysin, a sister, Judith (Daniel) Morgan, nephews, Jeremy (Ann) Goings, Joshua Goings and Johnny Johnson and a niece, Amy Johnson Terrell.

She attended Champaign schools, worked at the US Post office, Mastercard Incorporated, and as a hair stylist.

Memorial Services will be held at Temple Baptist Church 1100 Broadmoor Drive, Champaign, IL 61821 on October 21, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. with graveside services directly after at Grandview Memorial Gardens.

Rortvedt Funeral Services & Crematory in Tilton, Illinois is assisting the family.

Her favorite line was “Faith, Family, and Friends.” She always loved to make sure everyone was cared for deeply. She fought a hard battle and tried to give it her all. She loved her family so very much and will be deeply missed.
