Sue Johnson Obituary

On August 28, 2025, following a lengthy battle with cancer, Sue Anne Cox-Johnson of Danville left us and took the midnight train to join the big dance party waiting in the sky.

She will be dancing with her loving sisters, Janet S. Cox-Winchester, Judy Cox-Bostwick; brother, Timothy Cox; and her parents, Walter E. and Norma J. Cox.

She will be sadly missed but never forgotten by her sister, Cathy J. Cox (Tommy L. Thomas); brother, Jeffrey S. Cox of Clearwater Florida; nephew, Cody R. Cox; nieces, Heather Winchester-Hogan, Jessica Winchester; many nieces and nephews; her long-time best friend, Beverly Coppenbarger; and her beloved Sopher who she adopted 4 years ago when her sister Janet left for the party.

Sue lived her life to the fullest and on her terms.  From cooking on a shrimp boat out of Louisiana to traveling all over the United States working for a Major construction company.  She loved cooking, dancing, music, singing karaoke, and feeding every stray (animal or anyone in need for that matter), but what she loved doing most of all was spending time in the sun next to the pool with her family and friends.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, September 20, 2025, at 3:00 p.m. at the Friendly Tavern, 216 South St. Danville, IL 61832. We welcome everyone to come celebrate and share all the great memories we have with Sue because like the butterfly, she was beautiful to watch but hard to catch!!
