Susan Skoog Obituary

Susan Jane Skoog, 79, of Danville, Illinois went to her eternal resting place in heaven on March 2, 2023 with her family by her side.  Susan was born on September 23, 1943, the daughter of Wilbur and Frances Johnson in Lincoln, Nebraska.  She was the oldest of three children.  Her siblings Thomas (Nancy) Johnson of Cambridge, Ohio and Jill (Dale) Hood of Lesterville, Missouri both survive.

Susan graduated from Armstrong High School in 1961 and went on to study at Eastern Illinois University. Later she attended Parkland College in Champaign, Illinois where she obtained an Associates degree in Graphic Art as well as an Associates degree in Desktop Publishing.

She married Brian Edwin Skoog on December 17, 1965 at Armstrong Methodist Church and the two shared 57 wonderful years of marriage; he survives.  This union was blessed by the birth of four children; surviving are Mark (Lori) Skoog of Danville, Illinois, Tami (Steve) Styer of Williamsport, Indiana and Melissa (Jason) Yocum of Plainfield, Indiana. She was preceded in death by her parents and one son, Greg Skoog.  Susan is also survived by six grandchildren, Michael (Kaylee) Andrews, Rebecca Boettner, Alyssum (Nikolas) Scott, Braeden Skoog, Madeline Yocum and Harrison Yocum and five great grandchildren, Makenna Andrews, Lily Boettner, Kason Andrews, Savannah Boettner and Daphne Scott.

Susan was a member of First Baptist Church and taught Preschool at First Baptist Christian School. She worked at Herrs as a Graphic Artist and worked many years as a caregiver.

Susan loved spending time with her family.  She graciously opened her home and hosted many gatherings through the years.  She was a wonderful cook, seamstress and artist.  She gave generously of herself to her family, church, friends and strangers.  She had a selfless heart for others.  She loved fiercely and was fiercely loved.

But I would not have you be ignorant, brethren, concerning them who are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others who have no hope.  For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also who sleep in Jesus will God bring with him.  1 Thessalonians 4:13-14.
