Obituary

Thomas Evan Hughel born 7/18/1944 passed from complications with dementia on 5/31/2023. He is survived by his wife, Sharon K Hughel, Step-Daughter Mellainie Miller, and Step-Son Ryan W Vermilya. Tom lived a life of service by serving in the US Army completing a tour in Vietnam. His service continued as a drug and alcohol abuse counselor until his retirement from the profession in 2004. Tom enjoyed seeing people do better for themselves and tried to counsel those he knew in that way. He loved watching the History Channel, going on road trips and cooking big pots of chili. Memorial services will be held at West Point Cemetery, West Point, Indiana on 6/19/2023 at 1:00 p.m. E.D.T. Military Honors will be provided by American Legion Post 11 from Lafayette.
