Timothy L. Sights (a.k.a. Hippie), 69, of Danville, IL got his wings July 18, 2024. Tim passed away at home with his beloved wife, children, and pastor by his side. Born January 21, 1955, in Albia, Iowa, to Edward D. and Marilyn (Couch) Sights. Upon graduation from Princeton High School in Princeton, IL, Tim enlisted in the United States Navy and served in the Vietnam War. In more resent years he enjoyed volunteering at the Veterans hospital in Danville, IL.
In 2018 Tim married his queen Amy Sights. They enjoyed traveling the southern mountains states together, attending church service, and visiting with family and friends.
Tim enjoyed wrenching on his bike during winter months, raising garden and canning produce every summer. He loved all animals and had many as pets or dinner over the years. He grew sunflowers all over the yard, especially for the squirrels, and to fill the bird feeders. He never met a stranger that could resist admiring his beautiful yard with all it’s flowers. He loved to ride his Harley, and many knew him only as the Hippie who rode that awesome looking bike. One of Tim’s greatest joys was spending time with his son and daughter. Tim was also lucky to acquire an additional daughter and granddaughter, who he loved very much. He was a lover of music and could play many different instruments.
Tim was an active member of the Crusaders Church of Danville. He loved his church family and was always up for a discussion during church service. He thought of his church family as his brothers and sisters.
Tim is survived by his wife Amy Sights, his two brothers Dan and Paula Sights of Washington, IL, and Paul and Stephanie Sights of Fort Worth, TX, his son and daughter Jayce and Sarah Beth (Sights) Miller of Toulon, IL, and daughter and granddaughter Britta Conley and Aislin Conley of Catlin, IL.
A memorial service will be held at Crusaders Church in Danville, Tom Myers, pastor. Also we will have a celebration of life in Wyoming, IL. Dates will be announced at a later date. Online condolences: www.rortvedtfuneralservices.com.
