On Thursday, October 9, 2025, Vera Lou Lee, 65, of Rantoul, Illinois, went home to be with her Lord. Vera passed peacefully, surrounded by loved ones, at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana.
She was born November 4, 1959, in Danville, Illinois, to Jesse Cortez Lee and Dorothy Louise (Berry) Lee. A graduate of Rantoul High School, Vera proudly participated in Girls State and went on to dedicate more than 20 years of service to Bartosh Chiropractic, where she was loved by coworkers and patients alike.
Vera’s faith was the cornerstone of her life. As a devoted member of the Community Church of God in Danville, she lived as a shining example of compassion and kindness. She loved everyone she met, but her heart belonged most to her family. The youngest of nine, Vera adored her siblings, sharing a uniquely special bond with her identical twin sister, Vickie. She was a beloved aunt who cared for her nieces and nephews as though they were her own children.
She also had a deep love for animals, especially her dogs, Fia and Kammie, who brought her endless joy.
Vera was preceded in death by her father, Jesse Lee, and her sisters Jackie, Betty, and Brenda. She is survived by her mother, Dorothy Lee; her twin sister, Vickie VanMeter (George); brother Johnny Lee (Cheryl); sisters Janice Lee, Dorothy Williams (Glen), and Sandra Curtis; as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends who will miss her dearly.
Her legacy of love, faith, and kindness will live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her.
Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., Monday, October 13, 2025 at Community Church of God, 535 South Bowman Ave, Danville, IL 61832 with funeral services following at 1:00 p.m. Burial will be in Spring Hill Cemetery, 301 East Voorhees St., Danville, IL immediately following services.
