Viola Evelyn Gritton

Viola Evelyn Gritton, 88, of Tilton, passed away at 4:56 a.m. Thursday, May 5, 2022, at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana. She was born December 25, 1933, in Danville, the daughter of Harry and Theresa (Dougherty) Haun. She married Marion Dale Gritton November 23, 1955, in Tilton, he preceded her in death December 1, 1989.

Viola is survived by her three children; Judyth Henderson of Tilton, Stella Robbins of Tilton and Mike Gritton of Slidell, Louisiana; siblings; Theresa Wohlens and Asenith Wynn both of Danville; seven grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Marion Gritton, a son, Mickey Gritton, her parents and 10 siblings. Viola worked at General Electric in Danville.

She enjoyed camping, crocheting, fishing, listening to gospel music and watching animal shows on TV.  Although she will be greatly missed, her final wishes are, for those remaining, to make the arrangements to unite with her once again at her mansion beyond the golden gates.

Funeral services for Viola Gritton will be at 11:30 a.m. Monday, May 9, 2022, at The Assembly Church 428 N. Walnut Street, Danville, Illinois, with Pastor Ryan Harris officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the church. Burial will be with her husband at Danville National Cemetery.
