Wayne C. Sewell
September 17, 1922 – April 19, 2025
Wayne C. Sewell, 102, passed away peacefully on April 19, 2025. A devoted man of God, proud World War II veteran, and lifelong farmer, Wayne lived a life rooted in faith, service, and love for his family.
Born on September 17, 1922, to Chester and Nellie Sewell, Wayne grew up with strong values that shaped the foundation of his remarkable life. He served his country honorably in World War II, and upon returning home, he dedicated himself to his land and his loved ones. A faithful husband to the late Jane (Chamness) Sewell, Wayne found joy and purpose in their shared life together.
Wayne was a loving father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who cherished time spent with family. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Jane; his daughter, Nancy (Sewell) Strubinger; his son, David Sewell; his brother, Carl Sewell; and his parents, Chester and Nellie.
He is survived by his son-in-law, Wayne Strubinger; granddaughters, Breanne Strubinger and Caitlyn Strubinger; grandson, Jonathon Strubinger and his wife, Charlotte; and great-grandchildren, Henry and Eleanor Strubinger. His legacy lives on through them—through their faith, their work ethic, and the love they share.
Wayne will be remembered for his quiet strength, unwavering devotion, and the deep roots he planted in the lives of those who knew him. He will be greatly missed.
Graveside services for Wayne will be at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, May 3, 2025 at Friends Chapel Cemetery in Scottland, IL with Jim Hollingsworth officiating. Military Honors will be provided by American Legion Post 210 Honor Guard.
