Obituary

William "Bill" T. Garrett, 73, went to be with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Friday morning, March 11, 2022.  He was born October 28, 1948 in Neoga, IL. He married Phyllis J. Horn on August 16, 1971 in Danville. It was the greatest love.

Bill was honorably discharged from the U.S Navy as a signalman 3rd class in 1970. He was an excellent welder and drove a Hyster for Esco Corporation for several years before they closed. He also worked several years at the Illiana Healthcare System in Danville before getting his CDL and went OTR for several years until he had health issues. He enjoyed watching his little girl’s dance recitals for many years and coaching his son’s baseball, football and watching his amazing swim meets. They also loved to fish together. Bill was a survivor and a fighter. He loved jokes/pranks and a good laugh. He will be greatly missed and will never be forgotten!  He will be loved for eternity! Per his wishes there will not be a service. The family will have a private gathering and scattering of ashes in July in Florida.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Edgar J. and Freida Josephine Clinton-Garrett, his oldest brother Kelly Garrett, his mother in law, Jean Dempsey Horn whom he adored and loved with his whole heart and he called her mother, they were great coffee buddies, his sis, Susie Brumett and his only nephew, Jason Brumett.

William is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Phyllis J. Garrett; his two children, daughter, Nicole Garrett of Danville, whom he adored and a son, Phillip (Christie) Garrett of Florida, who he was so proud of; twin grandsons, Paytton (Brenda) Garrett of Colorado and Keytton (Katie) Garrett of Nevada, grandson, Christian Garrett and only one beautiful granddaughter, Camryn Garrett, of Florida; two great grandsons, Angelo and Daniel, both of Colorado; his wife’s siblings, who he loved to fish with and considered his bro’s, Brian Horn of Danville and Joe Brumett of Alvin, along with her sister’s that he called Sis, Ruth (Lyn) Horn of Maine and Kathy (Jay) Roberts of Danville; only one niece, Katelyn Jae Roberts of Danville. He and Phyllis have a very special friend, Susan Guffey Meyer, of Texas; brother, Jackie Martin Garrett of Texas, and a sister, Jacqueline Sue Krawczyk of Texas.
