William L. Rennaker, 78, passed this life on April 11, 2026, at LaBella of Danville. Bill was born on November 8, 1947, in Danville, IL to William F. Rennaker and Ola Rennaker.
Bill proudly served his country in the U.S. Army and was a Vietnam War Veteran serving in the 630th Engineers Company. He was a dozer operator, building roads and airfields. On two occasions he was buried by the dirt he was moving from a mountain. Thankfully, his fellow soldiers that were guarding him were able to save him. Bill’s good friend in his company, Cecil Brown, calls Bill a great soldier and friend.
Bill worked for Quaker Oats, was a roofer in Florida, and worked for Campbell’s Disposal when he returned to Danville. He enjoyed playing football and baseball as a kid, fishing, shooting pool, and watching westerns on T.V. He was good natured, kind and enjoyed hanging out with family and friends. He will be sadly missed.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Kathy; stepfather, Ferris McMahon; sister, Joyce Deffenbaugh; and brother, Butch McMahon.
He is survived by his siblings, Jerry Bishop, Sharon (Don) Wynn, John (Donna) McMahon, Tina (Frank) Pickett, and many nieces and nephews.
A graveside service with military honors will be held on Friday, April 24, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. at Danville National Cemetery, 1900 E. Main St. Danville. A celebration of life will be held this summer.
