William "Bill" Dimmitt Obituary

William (Bill) Dimmitt, 69 died October 24, 2023. Bill was born April 10, 1954, in Danville Illinois, son of William Horace and Barbara (Trinkle) Dimmitt. He worked 30+ years at Wyman Gordon later called Thyssen-Krupp forging factory, retiring in 2007 due to disability.

He loved the Chicago Bears and western movies. His favorite actor was John Wayne. He loved to read men’s adventure books. Bill is survived by his wife Mae (Hoskins). They did not have children, but adored Mae's sisters' kids and spent a lot of time with them. Also surviving are sister-in-law Minda (William) Lister and their children Jay (Becky) and Katie Lister. He had lifetime friends in Ross and Jenny Trimmell and Dennis and Debra Hall, their children Dennis Alan Hall and Brandi (Daniel) Coffman. Bill also had many cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Chet and sister Nancy, and friend Mike Williams who was like a brother to him.

Bill was a member of Grace Community Church, formerly Southside Church of the Nazarene, where services will be held. Friends and family are invited to celebrate Bill’s life on Saturday, November 11, 2023. Visitation is 1-3 with funeral at 3pm Illinois time. Pastor Jeremy McLaughlin will officiate. Burial will be private at a later date. Memorials made in Bill’s name may be made to Grace Community's bus ministry.
