Samuel (Sam) G, Manus went to be with the Lord November 5, 2019 at 8:27 p.m. at OSF Sacred Heart Medical Center in Danville.

Sam was born in Williamsport IN on February 1, 1946 to Moss and Julia (Stokes) Manus. He married Henriette Roach-David and later married Sandra (Sandy) Sheetz.

Sam retired from TeePak after 23+ years. Sam proudly served as radio transmitter on the USS Randolph while in the Navy from March 1965 to February 1969. He belongs to the American Legion Post 210. Sam attended First Church of the Nazarene in Danville. Sam also enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, making CD's and DVD's for family and friends, taking video clips of nature and wild animals. Sam also enjoyed western movies and war movies. Sam was an avid fan of the Illinois Illini Basketball and Football teams. He also enjoyed watching the Indianapolis Colts. Sam loved playing gospel music on the keyboard, organ and accordion. Sam always joked with family and friends, especially his granddaughter, Emily and son-in-law, Rudi as they came back with something. Sam didn't know a stranger.

He was preceded by his parents, son Sammy, sisters Barbara Burleson, Clara Kavanaugh, Francis Higgins, Juanita Manus, Kathryne Manus, Mary Britton, Violet Adams, and brothers Ernest Manus and Robert Manus. Sam is survived by his wife, daughters Julia (Rudi) Shelton, Carol Manus, and Michelle Manus (Ernest Surber), grand-daughters Vanessa, Emily, Allison, Taylor, Briana, Elizabeth, Hannah Shelton, Courtney and Megan Mennach and Eliza and Alyssa Surber, grandsons, Michael and Nicholas Shelton. Also surviving are sisters Linda Thorpe and Edna Yost and brother Richard Manus. He also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Sam will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Pastor David Anderson will preside over services that will be held at the Catholic Chapel at the VA Illiana Health Care System on Tuesday, November 12 at 1:00 p.m. Visitation from noon to beginning of service. Burial will be at Danville National Cemetery with Military Honors by American Legion Post 210.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or to the American Diabetes Association or charity of donor's choice.
